PhD  (in-progress)

Chris’s dissertation research is a U-series isotopic study of lavas from the Aleutian island arc.  Chris has done the analytical work on his project in the clean lab and mass spec facilities at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.  His work at Woods Hole has been under the guidance of our collaborator there, Ken Sims, who has recently moved to the University of Wyoming.

Chris is pictured here at a moho outcrop in the Trinity Peridotite, which we visited in September 2008 during the Lherzolite Conference at Mt. Shasta in northern California.  Chris was also a key player during our 2005 cruise on the R/V Thompson (the Western Aleutian Volcano Expedition), and he was with us aboard the R/V Revelle in 2004, when we had the opportunity to dive with the remotely operated vehicle Jason/Medea, on Adak Canyon, central Aleutians.

Chris has a masters degree from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and undergraduate degrees in geology and in environmental science from the University of North Carolina.
