research

I use sedimentary provenance to constrain the kinematic history of orogenic belts. Because of the geographic location where I was born and raised (the foothills of the eastern Himalaya), I have long been interested in mountain building. My primary research interests lie mainly in conventional and innovative provenance techniques applied to syn- and post-orogenic sediments, which I use to understand tectonic connections between exhumational unroofing and depositional settings. I have been using modal analysis of sandstone, semi-quantitative analysis of heavy minerals, whole rock geochemistry for rare earth elements and selected isotopic work (U-Pb geochronology and Nd isotopes) for generating my data and interpreting them in the context of basin tectonic history.
